STIG undertook a multifaceted initiative aimed at the development of a robust business model and implementation strategy for hinterland connections behind the emerging Lekki Freeport Terminal in Lagos, Nigeria. The primary objective of this endeavor was to establish a multimodal transportation system to efficiently evacuate around 1.5 million containers from the terminal each year. This challenge was magnified by the existing limitations posed by subpar road connections, which had hitherto been the sole means of transport.

Our comprehensive approach encompassed various crucial elements, such as extensive scenario analysis to assess potential pathways, logistical intricacies, and demand fluctuations. Traffic forecasting played a pivotal role in projecting container movement patterns, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring seamless operations.

Additionally, our strategy development accounted for both road and water logistics, seeking to leverage the region’s maritime resources for efficient container transportation. The integration of water-based solutions into the hinterland connections promised to alleviate the strain on road networks and enhance sustainability.

By envisioning an innovative multimodal transport ecosystem, STIG aimed to transform the evacuation process behind the Lekki Freeport Terminal, mitigating the road congestion challenges that had previously hindered efficient container movement. This project exemplified our commitment to pioneering solutions that optimize logistics, foster economic growth, and create sustainable infrastructure for the future.
